Screenprint and the art of becoming human

The drawings below are inspired by two famous Frida Kahlo paintings. Frida Kahlo and Julie Doucet are my two favorite artists of all time.

I call this one The art of becoming human. That’s from one of my favorite quotes by Hildegard of Bingen;

“The art of becoming human

lies in turning wounds into pearls”.

I really like that quote, not only from the obvious artists point of view (the artist needs pain and hurt to be able to create beautiful art (i. e. “pearls”)), but also as from the average persons perspective. In that aspect of us not truly becoming human until the time in our lives when we are able to turn our experiences of pain and hurt into something beautiful.

That’ll be all the preaching from yours truly for today.

Laterz mes amis!

  1. Mer teckningar, please!
